Artist Bio
I was born and raised in Redlands, California, where I was influenced by local artists and art activists. In high school, I first developed a love of the visual arts, where I first had the opportunity to work in ceramics, which became my favorite medium. My ceramics teacher inspired me to pursue artistic endeavors. An influence that eventually led to me to becoming a successful artist and an Art Educator himself. I see design in everything. However, I consider myself more than a sculptor, artist, and educator with a good eye for design. I am a creator, an artist in the truest sense of the word, I give a narrative, character and emotion to my creations. When working to replicate real creatures, pets and people, my insight captures the true essence of the character and emotion. I work with different art forms and mediums. Much of my work is imaginative realism, and some can be considered as fantasy; I have a clear style and a narrative that tells a story.
Artist Statement I see design everywhere I look, viewing the world as an artist; I see the things around me with the eye of applying what I see and feel to my inner world. Through my art, my aim is to show the outside world my inside world; by expressing those visuals, feeling and emotions through my work. I use imaginative realism to tell a story for my artworks, and using stylized realism; I create a story as a narrative that is told visually. I incorporate a strong awareness of the inner child; the imagination and wonder we saw the world through as children is an essence that I’m continually striving to give to the world. I consider myself a ceramic sculptor who incorporates different media into my work. My passion is creating creatures and characters with a focus on facial expressions and believability. Working through digital paintings, digital designs and ceramic sculptures in various styles, there is frequently a sense of fun, a little dark sense of humor. Through sculpture, drawing, digital painting, illustration, and imaginative fantasy, I enable you to peek into my world.
